Frequently Raised Issues
Local planning permission
If you're considering planning permission to build a house in a rural area, you need to consider a number of important matters:
Have a pre-planning meeting with Louth County Council to advise if you're eligible
Confirm you're eligible for local needs criteria and you have an economic and social need for a rural home
Check if there was any previous applications on that site that may have been refused
Confirm a site for sale has a "Subject to planning permission" clause in case you don't get permission
I am happy to assist with requests for pre-planning meetings or local needs letters
Requests to fill potholes or resurface roads
Primary and secondary roads are resurfaced by Louth County Council. If you wish to get in touch with me, please include your eircode.
LIS/CIS schemes for lanes
Tertiary roads and lanes will only be resurfaced via a scheme where local residents must contribute. The Local Improvement Scheme is agricultural lanes and the Community Involvement Scheme is for tertiary roads. The Council have application periods for both these schemes. They are usually open for a few weeks per year.

All insulation grants are provided via the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
